Stephen Hillenburg, the American creator of the American animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants, is Monday at age 57 died.
Tv channel Nickelodeon reported Tuesday the sad news.
Hillenburg was the first biology teacher and a marine biologist. In 1987 he decided to focus on animated films. He ended up with Nickelodeon as a writer, producer and storyboard artist. After ‘Rocko’s Modern Life’ he thought with colleagues from that series ‘SpongeBob Squarepants’.
The Nickelodeon bought the series began on 1 may 1999 in the USA in the premiere and came since april 2003 also on the television in Flanders. There are more than 240 episodes of the series about the cheerful yellow sponge.
Hillenburg was suffering from AS.
