MOSCOW – former soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has Thursday again warned of escalating tensions between Russia and the United States and not return to the days of the Cold War.

“We have war once and for all rid myself of. The most important thing is to get rid of nuclear weapons,” said the 87-year-old Gorbachev in a movie theater in Moscow, where he will be the premiere of the film Meeting Gorbachev had attended.
Last month, it announced that the American president Donald Trump that the United States would withdraw from the INF-ontwapeningsverdrag. Gorbachev has that treaty in 1987, signed.
“The most dangerous would have to return to confrontation, the beginning of a new arms race. They are now talking about a nuclear war as something that is perfectly acceptable. He is prepared, scenarios are discussed”, says the former world leader.
