On december 27 begins “Hollywood on the Scheldt” in the Roma in Borgerhout on his bioscoopcarrière. The film is a documentary about the history of the Flemish film, a work of the Antwerp filmmaker Robbe De Hert, two decades of blood, sweat and tears has cost. The display in the Roma will be by the 75-year-old the Deer and the full cast and crew attended.
Thereafter, the film, distributed by Dalton Distribution, shown in different cinemas and cultural centres across Flanders. At the recent film Festival, Oostende was the movie in avant-premiere films. That festival was the ‘Robbe’ to be honoured with a star.
Two years ago, seemed to be the dream project of the Deer are still dying, but by a crowdfundingcampagne, the ‘Robbe De Hert charity evening’ in the arenberg theatre and the support of cultuurminister Sven Gatz and the City of Antwerp, could be The Deer back to work.
For the project, through the years, with interviews of many personalities from the world of film: new generations, as Adil El Arbi and Billal Fallah, established values like Erik Van Looy and Jan Verheyen, but also long-dead greats such as Hugo Claus, felt vulnerable”, and André Delvaux. Those interviews are interspersed with unique archival footage, excerpts from almost 100 years, Flemish films and recordings on movie sets and premieres.
