KRC Genk played on the fourth match day in the Europa League in their own home 1-1 draw against a strong Besiktas. The Figures presented in the first half disappoint but came in the final stage, still alongside against the Turkish football club thanks to a brilliant blast of Sander Berge. Genk remains, partly due to the tie in Malmö-Sarpsborg on the head in Group I.
Philippe Clement relied on virtually the same team that two weeks ago in Istanbul a handsome 2-4 to win posted. The coach of Racing Genk had one forced change as necessary: Jhon Lucumi was missing with an injury, his replacement in the back was Joseph Aidoo. Sander Berge, who a few weeks outside of battle was with knee pain but last weekend in the top match against Club Brugge (1-1) in the base started, had to be content with a place on the bench.
Besiktas could again rely on celebrities Pepe and Ryan Babel. For goals did coach Senol Günes, next to Babylon, still call on despite getting Lens and Ricardo Quaresma.
The Turkish fans were becoming active now for the kick-off and it worked apparently stimulating for Besiktas, that are clearly lessons had been drawn from the heenwedstrijd and the Limburgers high pressured. Jeremaine Lens had an early change with an injury but mostly it was Ricardo Quaresma who the Genk quite a challenge. When Aidoo on the quarter stupid the ball is lost in response, the Portuguese only to Vukovic him. The Genk goalkeeper touched the ball but not enough to take him out of the goal: 0-1.
A moment later, Aidoo again in the error which the newly received Pektemek eye-to-eye came to stand with Vukovic but who shot fortunately for Genk in the champions league.
Over the past weeks has garnered Genk praise from friend and foe but, this time, to disappoint. Only in the end of the first half strike the People with their nose to the window. Samatta was the ball, however, just not low enough to keep and blasted right at the keeper.
Genk tried in the second half more pressure to convert but the best chance was again for the Turks. Quaresma swung a curled cross towards goal but a diving Babel headed just next. A moment later threatened the Dutchman again but Aidoo was, this time, came back and dismissed the ball.
Clement fingering in: Berge came in the place of Malinovskiy and Paintsi replaced Fiolic. Genk kept trying but Pozuelo found no hole and Samatta was not achieved against Pepe and Vida. Trossard was clearly missed but it was Besiktas more so accurate as in the first half and the exciting remained. Pepe pulled the emergency brake when Ndongala escaped but got away with yellow.
The Turks left Genk and tried only occasionally and quickly. Genk got but seemed not to possess the chances and got stuck on some corners. To the sunken berge five minutes for affluiten charred uithaalde from the second line. The ball disappeared out of the reach of Zengin left in the goal: 1-1!
In the extra time that was almost the winning hit, but Pepe and the goalkeeper prevented the only sunken Ingvartsen could score.
Tie in Scandinavian tête-à-tête
In the other party in group I, a Scandinavian tête-à-tête, received Malmö in Sweden the Norwegians Sarpsborg: 1-1. By that tie, there is still nothing decided in the group: Genk stays on head with seven points, Malmö, sweden and Sarpsborg have each five and Besiktas has three.
