FIFA president warns European clubs

Gianni Infantino

The president of FIFA said Wednesday during a press conference in Zurich that if it is that far, it is possible that players of those clubs not with their country are allowed to participate in the world championship.

“It is clear that this threat exists,” said Infantino about the intention of the biggest clubs to come to a Super League. “I think the controllers are good have to wonder what the consequences are if they are completely split.”

The Super League would be in 2021 for the start. Participants would even consider from the national league. It concerns Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool FC, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, AC Milan, Atlético Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Olympique Marseille, Internazionale and AS Roma. Bayern Munich said Friday not to know about the new league.

Infantino said Wednesday that at the latest in march, during a FIFA meeting in Miami clearly needs to be or when the next world championships in Qatar the number of participants has expanded from 32 to 48. It was initially intended that for the first time would have been the case at the fifa world cup 2026 in Canada, Mexico and the United States, but that now, four years previously.

Infantino denied further again in 2014 as secretary general of UEFA, the soccer clubs Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City helped with the work around of the rules of Financial Fair Play (FFP), such as Football Leaks last week reported.
