Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan allows the Saudi government responsible for the suspected murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
The order to Khashoggi to kill, came from ’the highest level’ of the Saudi government, wrote to Erdogan in a Friday published gastcommentaarstuk of the Washington Post.
Erdogan says that in the research, important questions remain unanswered. So it is still unclear what happened with the body of the journalist. ‘Unfortunately the Saudi authorities these questions are not answered.’
Khashoggi, who critically was for the Saudi regime, went on October 2, the consulate in Istanbul to get there papers in order to pay for his upcoming marriage. Since then he has disappeared. Riyadh gave only weeks later, under huge international pressure, that the 59-year-old man in the consulate was killed.
The Turkish public prosecutor-general stated on Wednesday that the Saudi journalist shortly after entering the consulate strangled. Then would his body ’cut into pieces’ and ’destroyed’.
