The German weekly Der Spiegel was the beginning of 2018, tens of millions of documents in hands. They are from ‘John’, an anonymous whistleblower that the subject of abuses in the international football world to the jaw. In the dataset of Football Leaks are already 70 million documents, accounting for 3,4 terrabyte of data. It is the largest journalistic datalek ever.
The Standard has data for eight months analysed, together with the media partners of the European Investigative Collaborations (EIC). More than 70 journalists from 15 European media worked over the past months together in search of the shady deals in the world of the big money behind the football.
The research in the data, combined with other documents and interviews with key players, are at the basis of the stories that The Standard and the EIC-network, the following weeks are going to publish.
