Everything you need to know about the european cyclo-cross: one against all on a modern and fast track

In the Netherlands Rosmalen is Sunday, the battle for the European title in cyclocross. Last year picked up Mathieu van der Poel of the jersey in Tabor. After his complete offday on the Koppenberg on Thursday, he will undoubtedly burned on a great performance for their own people. All he will have to reckon with a strong Belgian block with Wout van Aert and Toon Aerts.

The european CHAMPIONSHIPS takes place Sunday in the Netherlands, in Rosmalen, where the GP Brabant last year was organized. The race of the men elite is on tv live to follow on one.

“A fast course”

“The course is ninety percent identical to that of last year”, let course builder Richard Groenendaal recorded by the organization. “The differences are an additional sandbox, use a bevel and a part with decking over the water runs.”

On the trail there are three bridges and two stretches of sand, a sloping side and exposed beams. There will be over paved roads, grass, sand, and a piece of the forest drove. “It is a modern trail where a lot of speed in it. You drive with high speed from obstacle to obstacle,” explains Groenendaal. “It is my expectation that it can remain in all categories, also for the men. Mathieu van der Poel put out there last year, what the top and find a trail of him, just by that combination of speed and technique, but also Wout van Aert. Outsiders can be just a stage, but also the tenth one. You will have to organize and some luck, you should have.”

Of Aert with peace of mind

Last year paste Wout van Aert for the european CHAMPIONSHIPS, and crowned Mathieu van der Poel is the European champion. Now denotes the triple world champion this EK with dot, and after his third place at the Koppenberg tankte he trust. “The feeling was much better than in Ruddervoorde”, he gave Thursday. “On the climb was my weight in the downside, but on Sunday we get in Rosmalen again another course. I was on the Koppenberg again struggle, through the wall, and that gives me confidence. I pull with a peace of mind for the CHAMPIONSHIP.”

Van der Poel had a total offday on the Koppenberg, but is still as big favorite. “Mathieu has on the Koppenberg shown that he’s human and not unbeatable”, made Of Aert.

One Belgian block

“We need to keep the Belgian team working well together”, found Show Aerts, “a strong bloc present and that European sweater to take it home.”

The trail in Rosmalen is also sometimes compared to Ruddervoorde, great running and times, with hardly any strips where a rider is his strength lost and no altimeters. Aerts is in Rosmalen no trail at his size, but who knows, he might get a favour in return prove to Wout van Aert after the ploegenspel perfectly played at the european CHAMPIONSHIPS in Pontchâteau in 2016.
