James McAvoy was almost scammed out of nearly $ 13,000 ($12,000) during the planning of a family holiday in Spain. The 39-year-old actor, who was son Brendan shares with ex-wife Anne-Marie Duff shared on Instagram videos of himself to warn others not in the trap of the scammer.
“Hello! I am James McAvoy. I just avoid I by means of a cyber scamming scheme online scammed and iwil with this video to draw your attention to this,” he said in the video. He had tried to make a trip to the Ritz-Carlton, Abama, in Tenerife, Spain to books.
He says that he almost thousands of dollars lost on a counterfeit web site of the hotel. “The site looked eerily real, very convincing. I almost had the money, until I realized that the 10 percent discount that I got when I had the money would transfer, to good to be true.”
McAvoy switched to a travel agency for advice, and it proved out to be a scam. He also sent a message to the hotel.
“So I’m not going on that vacation!” wrote the actor with a wink.
