The British cyclist Mark Cavendish has his contract with Dimension Data extended. The 33-year-old sprinter take as a part time job to sit in the new board of trustees of the cycling team. He is driving since 2016 for the team. Through injuries and illness, he could this year and also in 2017, the high expectations did not live up to.

Cavendish is nevertheless committed to the record number of victories in the Tour de France of the Belgian grandmaster Eddy Merckx at least to match. The Brit now stands at 30 wins. Merckx triumphed 34 times in a stage in the Tour.
