Lindsey Vonn

“I don’t think anyone is really surprised by my decision, but retirement is the hardest decision that I have ever had to make,” said Vonn compared to Sports Illustrated. “As long as I can remember I have never had a vision of the future had where skiing is not in the front. Now I have my goals re-define and find out who I am.”

“Although I have great things I may accomplish with skiing, I have to get past the victories are going to look,” says the 34-year-old American. “I have to accept that I am good enough am without the sport. My family and health deserve to be on the first place. I want to ever be without pain can walk and hopefully I can once my own children learn to ski.”

Vonn has 82 wins behind her name. She only needs the Swedish Ingemar Stenmark (86). “I will often be reminded of her record,” says Vonn. “I’ve got one more season and will work hard to make it possible. But I have myself or someone else nothing more to prove.”

“I will be more omissions than just ski victories”, decision Vonn. “There are still a lot of chapters to write.”
