The 18th edition of the lgb film festival will take place from 6 to 30 november. During three weeks a total of 25 feature-length films, 26 short films, 3 documentaries, 2 stage shows and 2 events are shown. For the first time in the history of the festival, there are in all the Flemish provinces activities, especially at 21 locations, of which 9 for the first time to be done.
The organization wrong, due to the transfer of the personal matters – including equal opportunities – the county, for a time in uncertainty about the continued existence of the festival. “For the Flemish government and the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF), we finally found new resources to make the festival re-organize and attentive in all Flemish provinces,” said spokesman Bram Deschamps.
The festival will continue on november 6 in Leuven will start with the traditional Lgb where a kortfilmwedstrijd connected to. The organizers selected 4 short films from 165 entries from 31 countries. Other highlights are the films ‘The Cakemaker’ (Ofir Raul Graizer), “Rafiki” (Wanuri Kahiu), ‘Sidney & Friends’ (Tristan Aitchison), ‘Maurice (James Ivory), ‘The next day and before I Prince (Rupert Everett), etc. For students there is a separate tailor-made programme.
