The belgian Stoffel Vandoorne looks forward to the coming weekend in Japan to race. The circuit of Suzuka for the F1-pilots a serious challenge, and the Japanese fans always provide wacky scenes
“In terms of pure joy while driving a F1 car is Suzuka one of the most amazing circuits in the world,” said Vandoorne. “Of course, Spa-Francorchamps, especially when Belgian rider, also at the top. But at Suzuka you experience is definitely as much fun and it might even be a little bit harder than Spa.”
Just like Spa-Francorchamps is Suzuka one of the circuits that the drivers is very popular and because of the characteristics of the circuit and a lot of curves that have a huge challenge to the riders.
“It is one of the circuits that are not just about one of the unique curve feature, or about one property: the first sector with the Esses’ is enormously challenging, the ‘Degners’ are extremely fast and no errors. ‘Spoon-corner’ is really a turn from the old box that is constantly in the wrong trying to enforce. Each round you will be pushed to your limits.”
Crazy Japanese fans
In addition to the challenges of the circuit come even the crazed Japanese fans for the weird scenes and a unique atmosphere.
“The entire race weekend, and the experience you have is always surreal and fantastic. During my season in the Super Formula, I learned that the Japanese fans are hugely passionate about motorsport. During the race weekend in Suzuka, you become flooded with positive and fun messages. I’m enormously looking forward to it, ” decided Vandoorne.
