Fast man Michael Van Staeyen draws next season to the new fusieploeg Roompot-Charles. That made the team on Monday announced on its website. The 30-year-old Van Staeyen comes from Cofidis, where he spent the past four seasons, especially in the service reed.
The Antwerper, who for one season was signed, showed in a more distant past are fast legs with a victory in the Memorial Rik Van Steenbergen (2010), and stage wins in the Tour of Denmark (2010) and etoile de Bessèges (2013).
“I am very happy that I can be part of this team”, was Staeyen excited with his transition. “After four years in the service of driving of others, may I, next year my own chance and I will again be played out as a sprinter. I’m aiming for, especially in one day races as Koolskamp, Primus Classic and Jef Scherens. In those games I have in the past been top five ridden.”
Van Staeyen is the fifteenth name on the rennerslijst of Roompot Charles for next season. Last weekend was also the arrival of Lars Boom made official.
