WASHINGTON – The government of president Donald Trump wants to make it harder for foreigners to get a permanent residence permit if they have social support from the government. In a Saturday submitted a proposal that immigration officials now have to be taken into account in their decisions or someone food, in a social housing resident or Medicaid, the care for the poorest of the poor.
This means a widening of the current rules, that only people who are financially dependent on the state are not eligible for a so-called Green Card. Non-financial support must, however, be disregarded. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen said that the new directive should prevent immigrants,a burden for American taxpayers”.
Migrant organisations warn that if the regulation is introduced the public health in jeopardy, because migrants are discouraged to make use of the facilities to which they are entitled.
