Laurens ten Dam ride next season on the side of Greg Van Avermaet. We reported that transfer in August, but Continuum Sports, the organisation behind the current BMC team, made his arrival now officially.

The 37-year-old Ten Dam is now in its third season, a Team Sunweb. He brings sixteen years of experience as a professional cyclist to the new team manager Jim Ochowicz. “He is one of the most experienced riders in the peloton and will be a great asset, especially as a mentor for the young people,” said Ochowicz, manager of the new CCC team.

“I was not really looking to change but it scares me neither”, explains the Dutchman. “I’ve had it a number of times in my career and this was a great opportunity. At Continuum Sports, I start with a white sheet and new goals set. In addition, I get a little more freedom.”

Ten Dam was already seventeen times at the start of a big tour. Both in the Tour (ninth in 2014) and the Vuelta (eighth in 2012), he made the top ten.
