Avril Lavigne is back with a vengeance. In her comebacksingle “Head Above Water”, she has in her recent fight against Lyme disease.

Lavigne – known mainly because of her hit “Sk8er Boi” in 2002 – announced her return earlier this month already. In an emotional message on her website she described how her battle against Lyme disease and her creativity gave form.

“The last few years I underwent both a physical and emotional fight,” said Lavigne. “I managed to struggle to put in music where I am very proud of. I wrote songs from my bed and my office and took them there as well. Events in the lyrics to the convert, was in a hurry, of course.”

With the launch of her new single “Head Above Water” makes the Canadian-French singer her promise. The single is mainly about her battle against Lyme.

“I thought I was going to die and had that thought already accepted,” says Lavigne. “My mother was lying next to me in bed and held me tight. I felt like I was drowning. I prayed “God, help me to keep my head above water’. It is then that the writing of this album began. It was truly a spiritual experience.”

The last album of the Canadian-French singer dates back to 2013. A sixth album would now coming.
