Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC) were in the opening stage of the second full day of the Rally of Turkey, confronted with technical problems. The duo reached the finish line with a gap of 3:32 on Sébastien Ogier (Ford Fiesta WRC), who is in charge takes over from Neuville. The Oostkantonner tried to go a noodherstelling to perform. It is not clear whether Neuville can continue to drive.
It was a dramatic morning for Thierry Neuville. Our countryman was soon on the road and after 25 km four seconds ahead of Ogier. Not much later pierced the linkerschokdemper suddenly the hood and went to some parts lost. Neuville continued at low speed to drive further and eventually reached the finish line. A major setback for Neuville to the direction reed and currently the world cup standings puts forward. The difference between our compatriot and first pursuer Ogier is 23 points.
“I don’t know what happened,” said Neuville at the finish line. “Everything went great until that one moment. We have not touched. There must just be something broken down. Bad luck, bad luck.” Neuville put on the car after the finish to the side and began to tinker.
On Saturday morning, there are still two stages driven before the cars return to the assistentiezone in Marmaris.
