Manafort was last month found guilty of bank and tax fraud. He had to appear before the judge on suspicion of money laundering and because he failed would have to register as ‘foreign agent’ for the former pro-Russian government of Ukraine. He worked as a lobbyist in that Eastern European country and would be the millions that he earned from the sight of the American tax authorities have held.
The prosecution of a lobbyist stems from the investigation of special prosecutor Robert Mueller. Who is doing research on Russian interference in the American elections of 2016. It is unclear whether Manafort has also agreed to cooperate in this investigation.
His deal with the prosecutors must also still be approved by the court, notice to the Washington Post.
