Japanese Osaka is in the quarterfinals of the US Open far too strong for the Ukrainian Tsurenko

The Japanese Naomi Osaka (WTA 19) is for the first time in her career in the last four at the US Open. They defeated on Thursday in her semifinal smooth the Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (WTA 36).

After only 57 minutes of tennis was the 6-1, 6-1 final score on the scoreboard of the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

In the semi-finals takes twentieth seed Osaka against the Spanish Carla Suarez Navarro (WTA 24) or the American Madison Keys (WTA 14), the losing finalist of last year.

The other semi-final is a duel between the Latvian Anastasija Sevastova (WTA 18) and the American Serena Williams (WTA 26), six-time winner at Flushing Meadows.

It is the first time that the 20-year-old Osaka in the semi-finals of a grand slam tournament reached. An eighth final at the Australian Open early this year was her best result so far. At the US Open she was the past two years in the third round (sixteenth-finals) turned off.

Osaka wrote in mid-march, the top tournament of Indian Wells on her name, her most beautiful victory so far.
