AZ Alkmaar has Ricardo van Rhijn final to be bound. The 27-year-old Dutch defender, who last season Club Brugge already rented out to AZ, signed a contract for one season in Alkmaar.
Club Brugge paid in 2016, around 1.8 million euros with Ajax for the rechterverdediger. Van Rhijn started the season well, but due to some minor injury he ultimately lost his place in the team of Michel Preud’homme. The Dutchman could not live with his development this year and wanting and played last season on a rental basis at AZ Alkmaar, with whom he third ended up in the Premier league.
“This club will feel like a kind of home for me,” says the eightfold Dutch international. “I have here the whole preparation already participated and I am glad that AZ are the choice has been made for an additional year.”
The 27-year-old Dutchman last season but in eleven Eredivisiewedstrijden if trotting along, looks at AZ no one to bother. “Ricardo has shown that he is a reliable force. He is a good stand-in for Jonas Svensson. We are really happy that we had the opportunity to Ricardo at the end of the transfer market still to tie,” said AZ-direceur Max Huiberts.
