Anderlecht has a new linksvoetige central defender bite: the 26-year-old Englishman, James Alexander Lawrence. A surprise because his name had never surfaced in the transfergeruchten around the Brussels club.
“Recently we reached an agreement with the Slovakian club AS Trencin on the final passage of the James Alexander Lawrence”, reports the club. His contract was not disclosed.
Lawrence got his youth in England and the Netherlands at renowned clubs such as Arsenal, Queens Park Rangers, Ajax, Sparta and RKC. In the minor leagues he played since the summer of 2014 in Slovakia at Trencin. He defended 115 times the colors of the club, and scored nine times. In his first two seasons in Slovakia he won the double (title + cup). This past summer, he was also a solid pawn in the defence during the European stuntzege against Feyenoord (4-0).
The Englishman is so the next in line Trentinspelers that may try to break through in the Jupiler Pro League. Previously resulted in the Slovakian opleidingsclub of the Dutch old-player Tscheu La Long even though talents like Moses Simon, Wesley Moraes, Samuel Kalu and Leon Bailey in Belgium.
Anderlecht started the new season in the Jupiler Pro League is excellent. After four wins in the first four duels of members of Brussels last Sunday, a first defeat, on a visit to Club Brugge (2-1). Next Sunday will receive purple and white Antwerp in the Constant Vanden Stock stadium.
