The European track cycling championships for juniors and promises (U23) find next year in Ghent. The Flemish cycling centre Eddy Merckx is from 9 to 14 July 2019 as the setting for the title, as confirmed by the Belgian cycling federation on Monday.
Last week found the edition 2018 place in the Swiss Aigle. In the margin thereof shall be the European federation UEC the championships of 2019 to Ghent. It will be next year exactly a decade ago that in the same cycling centre Eddy Merckx in the elite and U23 at the European titles, was fought. Kenny De Ketele (gold in dernies as well) and Jolien D’hoore (silver in Omnium) resulted for Belgian success.
“The european junior CHAMPIONSHIPS and U23 is an excellent opportunity, with an eye on the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, the budding talents in the country and abroad to learn”, says the cycling federation. “More than 350 riders and riders from 23 different countries will be participating in the event. Among them is a number of compatriots are hiding from whom excellent results are to be expected. Young Belgians, among whom Robbe Ghys, Fabio Van den Bossche, Nicolas Wernimont, Sasha Weemaes, and Shari Bossuyt, proven their abilities already in the last European and world championships. Participate in a European Championship in their own country is for them the chance to confirm.”
