The award-winning feature debut ‘Girl’ by Lukas Dhont is now also selected for the Toronto International Film Festival, which takes place from 6 to 16 september. The film is on the TIFF screened in the Discovery programme for young and emerging international film talent. ‘Girl’ will be located in the Canadian city do not feel lonely: last week it was announced that the Flemish productions ‘Angel’ by Koen Mortier and “Ce magnifique gâteau’ by Emma De Swaef and Marc James Roels to Toronto. In addition, the co-productions ‘Duelles’ by Olivier Masset-Depasse (Veerle Baetens in the lead role), ‘Retrospekt’ of Esther Rock, ‘Au temps où les Arabes dansaient’ of filming and the ‘Kursk’ of Thomas Vinterberg invited.
Since the world premiere in Cannes, where ‘Girl’ to the Queer Palm, the Fipresci prize of film criticism and the prestigious Caméra d’or for best debut feature won and where the protagonist Victor Polster was awarded the Prize for Best acting performance, the film prior to its Belgian première at the Ghent film festival, selected for the festivals of Karlovy Vary, Palic, Odessa and San Sebastián. In Palic won the film the Award for Best Film, the Golden Tower, and in Odessa won Pad, just like in Cannes, the Prize for Best acting performance. On 17 October appears ‘Girl’ (out-)finally in the Belgian screens.
