BRUSSELS – The European Commission is planning the official climate goals of the European Union to significantly increase. The EU wants to 2030, a reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases by 45 percent. Now that is another 40 percent as compared to the figures of 1990.

The Spanish klimaatcommissaris Miguel Arias Caete wants the EU member states in October a decision in this matter. He calculated that the new target is reached if the new European decisions on energy savings and the development of renewable energy to be performed. ,,On the basis of our mathematical models, we will, de facto, a reduction of the greenhouse gas emissions by 45 per cent in the EU reach. In any case, the EU is in a strong position to participate in conversations about ambitious targets at the upcoming climate conference in Katowice,” said Caete.
There is, in december, negotiated the rules for the Paris climate deal to renew. In 2015, the international community agreed to address the total warming of the earth to limit to a maximum of 2 degrees, if possible, even up to 1.5 degree.
