Ysaline Bonaventure (WTA 126) has on Tuesday in New York qualified for the second round of the qualifiers at the US Open. For Maryna Zanevska (WTA 219) is the fourth and final grand slam tournament of the season already.
Bonaventure, the eighteenth seed in the qualifications, switched on the the Dutch Bibiane Schoofs (WTA 182) with 6-3 and 6-2. Earlier the 23-year-old from Liège, 58 minutes. In the next round she looks at the American Jamie Loeb (WTA 132) or the Japanese Junri Namigata (WTA 207) in the eyes. Bonaventure was never at the main table on the hard courts of New York.
Zanevska went in her opening round in three sets down against the experienced Swiss Patty Schnyder (WTA 187), who, in 1998 and 2008 and to the semis pulled out at Flushing Meadows. After 1 hour and 47 minutes were the 7-5, 2-6 and 4-6 match results on the scoreboard.
Earlier in the day took Ruben Bemelmans the first hurdle in the men. The thirty years ‘ Limburger knocked the American Kevin King (ATP-178) 6-4 and 6-3. His next opponent is the Frenchman’s Constant Lestienne (ATP 172), the Italian Alessandro Giannessi (ATP-229) knocked in three sets, 6-3 and 6-2.
The US Open takes place from 27 August to 9 september. Friday is drawn for the main table.
