PARKLAND – Students at the American school in February, seventeen people were shot dead, Wednesday at the beginning of the school year, faced with strict security measures. That should prevent a similar tragedy again occur.
Not all of the students and their parents are reassured by the new measures.
So there are now more security guards around at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland (Florida), and the approximately 3200 students identiteitsbadges wear. According to CNN, are also 52 new cameras hung up, and fences are placed. Also, there is a new system for the doors to lock during emergency situations.
The administration of the school was also metal detectors to put down, but that idea got it eventually. Also a plan to clear backpacks mandatory, is repealed. It would be difficult to have all students check at the beginning of the day.
Not all students are reassured by the new measures. “If someone want to come inside, then it will work,” predicted a 16-year-old boy. “I feel absolutely not safe.”
