BEIJING – One of the most prominent Chinese monks stepped down as chairman of the Buddhist Association of China. The Chinese authorities were previously known to do research on this master Xuecheng, the abbot of a temple in Beijing. He was accused of sexual misconduct.
Two monks had previously had a 95-page document drawn up with accusations to the address of Xuecheng. In the document, that was spent on Chinese social media, were under more images of explicit text messages that are sent would be by the abbot. He would women have been harassed and have driven on sex.
Xuecheng rejected the accusations. The monk said on berichtensite Weibo that the allegations arise from “twisted facts” and “manufactured material.” The Buddhist Association was the departure of the chairman are known, but entered not into detail about the underlying reasons.
