Team Movistar has its first new addition for 2019 proposed. The Spaniard Carlos Verona is Mitchelton-Scott and signed a contract for two seasons. Our fellow countryman Jürgen Roelandts (BMC) is also for a few weeks already heavily linked to the Spanish WorldTour team, but his transition was not confirmed yet.
The 25-year-old Verona defended between January 2013 and August 2016, the colors of Quick-Step, before slamming the doors to Mitchelton-Scott. The Madrileen, a good climber, Movistar more than likely fit in the kliméquipe around Nairo Quintana, Mikel Landa and Alejandro Valverde.
This season, Verona is second in the GP Miguel Indurain (after future ploegmakker Valverde) and winner of the mountain classification in both the Tour of the Basque country as the Tour des Fjords.
