Bashir Abdi has our country a silver medal delivered at the european CHAMPIONSHIP of athletics in Berlin. The Somalia-born citizen of Ghent walked up to a handsome second place in the 10 km. Abdi went as a leader, the last straight line, but saw the Frenchman Morhad Amdouni on him. The other Belgian, Bouchikhi, had in the last straight line the role to solve and finished sixth.
Abdi finished in 28:11.76, and so was slightly slower than Amdouni (28:11.22). The third place was for the Italian Yemane Crippa (28:12.15). Bouchikhi came after 28:19.04 across the finish line. Simon Debognies (29:00.98) was fifteenth, and got so set target (top 16).
Bouchikhi was the whole race in the front ranks. Abdi hid at first in the belly of the peloton, but gradually shifted and appeared halfway through the race well at the front. The Spaniard Adel Mechaal explained in the final laps, a blistering pace and dunde the leading group to five runners with Bouchikhi and Abdi. In the final lap carried Abdi the forcing, Bouchikhi was in the last straight line, do not accost. Abdi was in the slotmeters only voorbijgesneld by Abdouni.
