Veranda’s Willems-Crelan again at the party in Denmark

Tim Merlier (Veranda’s Willems-Crelan), the third stage of the Tour of Denmark won after a sprint. His teammate Wout van Aert continues in the leader’s jersey.

After 178,4 kilometers between Naestved and Vordingborg was Merlier, the bosom friend of Wout van Aert (Veranda’s Willems-Crelan), the fastest in a sprint. He left the Italians Riccardo Minali (Astana) and Andrea Guardini (Bardiani-CSF). Milan Ments (Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise) was sixth. Of Aert himself retained his leader’s jersey.

For the 25-year-old Merlier, just like Van Aert a cyclist, it is his second seizoenszege, after the Saint-Elooisprijs in Ruddervoorde.

In the general classification retains Wout van Aert as a leader, six seconds ahead of the Dane Alexander Kamp (Team Waoo) and ten seconds on the American Robin Carpenter (Rally Cycling). Also Milan Ments (sixth, +0:21) and Xandro Meurisse (seventh, +0:21) are still in the top ten.

Saturday in Denmark with an individual time trial of 19.1 kilometres in and around Nyköbing Falster. Sunday ends the Tour of Denmark with a flat stage to Frederiksberg.
