“It was a constructive conversation. They have agreed to continue to try the issues between our two countries to solve,” said a spokeswoman of the American ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The USA have two Turkish ministers sanctions imposed because of the imprisonment of American pastor Andrew Brunson in Turkey, who is suspected of terrorist activities. It comes to ministers Abdulhamit Gül (Justice) and Süleyman Soylu (Home Affairs). Turkey protested against it and threatens with countermeasures.
Pompeo said after the meeting that “sanctions are the evidence that we are serious about the claim that Brunson should be immediately released.”
