Not Henry but Aguirre follows Cuper as coach of Egypt

The Mexican Javier Aguirre is the new coach of Egypt, so the Egyptian football federation on Thursday announced. The 59-year-old Aguirre is the successor of the Argentine Hector Cuper, who after the world cup in Russia his resignation was submitted.

Egypt wanted to shine at the last world cup, but remained far below the expectations. The preparation was totally disrupted by the injury of star player Mo Salah, in Brussels, they walked in the beginning of June in a friendly against a 3-0 defeat against the Red Devils. At the world CHAMPIONSHIPS they locked group A puntenloos after defeat against Uruguay, Russia, and Saudi Arabia. After the world cup held Cuper the honor to himself, and he served his notice of resignation.

The Egyptian bond had a shortlist of four names ready and the last few days was also Thierry Henry there. The French former world champion was in the past two years to work as a T3 with the Red Devils, but it seems his sights have set on the hoofdtrainerschap. Earlier there was talk of Aston Villa, in Birmingham, was chosen for an extended stay of Steve Bruce.

Javier Aguirre was at the 2010 world cup in South Africa the Mexican team under his wing. After that, he was head coach at Espanyol, and coach of Japan. In Egypt he signed a contract until the world cup of 2022 in Qatar. Next month start the qualifiers for the Africa Cup.
