For the first time in 40 years pushed the Red Panthers to the barrages for the quarter-finals at the hockey world cup, there, stopped, however, the tale of the Belgian hockeyvrouwen. The match against Spain ended 0-0 and so had to shoot-outs for the decision ensure. In a series of free balls showed the Spanish girls are just slightly more efficient: 2-3. The arbitration took, however, a few questionable decisions.

The Red Panthers (FIH-13) were after a 6-3 victory against Japan (FIH-12) and a 1-1 draw between Australia (FIH-5) and New Zealand (FIH-4) in London as the second ended in group D. Spain (FIH-11) was third in group C.
