The legendary opera singer, Maria Callas will receive special attention during the annual Grachtenfestival (canal festival next month in Amsterdam. On Saturday, August 18, runs a Dutch sneak preview of the new documentary Maria By Callas, with unknown videos and photos in The Filmhallen.
The documentary, which last year was made, includes personal super 8 movies, private live recordings, intimate letters, and rare archival footage in which Maria Callas for the first time in color behind-the-scenes to see. Except for the soprano itself also Aristotle Onassis, Marilyn Monroe, Alain Delon, Yves Saint Laurent, John F. Kennedy, Luchino Visconti, Winston Churchill, Grace Kelly and Liz Taylor over.
Then follows a discussion about what the iconic diva has meant and why, after more than forty years after her death, still an icon.
The Grachtenfestival (canal festival lasts this year from 10 to 19 August. Last year there were about 56.000 visitors from home and abroad on the many concerts.
The documentary is coming in september also in the cinema. Callas is in addition on Monday 26 november in Carré to see and hear as the hologram. Ultra-modern digital technology and laser projection to create almost a real performance looks like. Callas was in the flesh, but twice, in Amsterdam, in 1959 and 1973.
There are still a few hundred cards of the total of 1800 available to purchase for the hologramconcert. The most expensive flew away after becoming aware of the event, this spring.
