Jonathan Borlée (400 metres) and Louise Carton (5,000 feet), have Saturday in Heusden-Zolder on the Night of Athletics placed for the european CHAMPIONSHIPS in Berlin (7-12 August).
Jonathan Borlée ran in a time of 45.57 to victory in the 400 metres and remained thus below the EUROPEAN limit (45.89). He took it in Heusden-Zolder for his brother Kevin (45.67), the Dutchman Liemarvin Bonevacia (45.86) and his other brother Dylan (46.04). Kevin and Dylan Borlée realized just as Alexander Doom two weeks ago the european CHAMPIONSHIPS-a minimum of all on the Belgian championship, Jonathan Borlée, to let the 400 metres to pass.
When the women came to Louise Carton on the 5,000 meters as the seventeenth over the line in 15:33.25, either more than three seconds under the EC-minimum (15:36.42). The race was dominated by the American Shelby Houlihan, who is a new national record (14:34.45) on the tables set.
Anne Zagré succeeded in the 100 metres hurdles not to qualify for the european CHAMPIONSHIPS. The Brussels-based athlete was fifth in 13.37 and came to 25 tenths of a second deficit.
Belgian athletes have until 30 July to the EK-minima. Including Borlée and Carton are 36 Belgians already been successful in doing.
