The Kazach Alexey Lutsenko (Astana) has Thursday the sixth stage of the Tour of Austria (2.1) won. He was after a flight of more than 100 kilometers faster than the Slovenian Matej Mohoric. Ben Hermans (Israel Cycling Academy), and keeps his red leader’s jersey.
Lutsenko and Mohoric, both recently champion of their country, drove a hundred kilometers for the finish line in Wenigzell away from a large leading group, with Wout van Aert. On a very hilly parcours, kept the kopduo afterwards, all the pursuers. The inclined arrival had Mohoric no answer to the acceleration of Lutsenko, who earlier this year, the Tour of Oman won.
Van Aert came just for the gc riders as the seventh across the finish line. In the group which shortly afterwards followed, were Hermans and his main challengers for the title. The Observer assures themselves of an extra day at the top of the general classification.
Saturday runs the peloton of the Tour of Austria on his penultimate day loops on a very hilly course in Sonntagberg.
