Alison Van Uytvanck has not succeeded to her eighth final at Wimbledon to win. Daria Kasatkina proved too strong for our compatriot, who with lifted head to the house can leave. The match was decided in three sets: it was 6-7 (6-8), 6-3 and 6-2 in favor of the Russian.
Two weeks ago had Alison Van Uytvanck still narrowly lose out in the Russian Kasatkina during the tournament in Eastbourne. Our 24-year-old compatriot was not intimidated and started strong in the first set on Court 18, where she quickly found a small lead over the sector. Kasatkina know that however, and then the 4-4 was. The two remained a close affair, eventually at 6-6, a tiebreak helped bring in the first set. That tiebreak – and thus also the set was eventually won by Van Uytvanck with 8-6.
In the second set crashed the game van Uytvanck what in. They began solidly, but looked up quickly at a small gap of 2-4. That she could eventually not make it up: the set ended 3-6 to Kasatkina. The third set was so allesbeslissend. For our compatriot came, unfortunately, there is no improvement more. In the third set, was Van Uytvanck there don’t even have to be against the 21-year-old Russian: it was 6-2. There is an end to the great tournament of van Uytvanck, who is her best result at a grand slam tournament (quarterfinals at Roland Garros 2015) just not equals. Nonetheless: a very good achievement from our young compatriot.
