Alison Van Uytvanck (WTA-47) is in bloedvorm on the London grass of Wimbledon. After her stunt against Mugurza she was in the third round in two sets too strong for the Estonian Anett Kontaveit (WTA-27). The 24-year-old Van Uytvanck won in the third round in two sets of the Estonian Anett Kontaveit (WTA 27): 6-2, and 6-3 after 1 hour and 15 minutes.
In the first set, was Van Uytvanck twice by the storage of Kontaveit. The Estonian saw our compatriot to 6-2 ready. Van Uytvanck knew her opponent in the second set of three opslagspellen to eat sweets, while Kontaveit only one break was a success: 6-3.
Thursday brought our compatriot for a stunt of format by the Spanish titelverdedigster Garbiñe Muguruza (WTA 3) out of the tournament to bowling, her first victory against a player from the top five.
In the next round will find the Flemish-Brabant the Russian Daria Kasatkina (WTA 14). They won with 7-5 and 6-3 of the Australian Ashleigh Barty (WTA 17). Van Uytvanck has played once before against Kasatkina, coached by Philippe Dehaes. Last week she went on the grass in Eastbourne with 5-7, 6-4 and 6-1 down against the Russian.
Later in the day Elise Mertens (WTA 15) her derderondepartij against the Slovak Dominika Cibulkova (WTA 33).
Zanevska is knocked out in second round doubles
Maryna Zanevska is Saturday at Wimbledon, eliminated in the second round of the dubbeltoernooi, despite three match balls.
On the side of the Australian Arina Rodionova lost Zanevska in three sets against the Dutch Kiki Bertens, and the Swedish Johanna Larsson, the ninth reekshoofden: 2-6, 7-6 (7/2) 6-2. At 4-5 in the second set had Zanevska and Rodionova however three match balls, but they could not redeem.
Kirsten Flipkens (with the Romanian Monica Niculescu) and Elise Mertens (with the Netherlands ‘ Demi Schuurs) managed, however, to qualify for the eighth finals of the dubbeltoernooi.
