TULTEPEC – The death toll as a result of explosions in a vuurwerkopslag in the Mexican place Tultepec is increased to 24. Among the victims are also rescuers.
Local media reported that two consecutive explosions occurred. Seventeen people died on the spot and seven others died in the hospital. Still 49 other people were injured.
“Rescue workers arrived at the first explosion when a second explosion occurred, so that people from this group were victims,” was the statement of the local authorities.

Tultepec, near Mexico City, is the center of the Mexican vuurwerkindustrie. It often comes to serious accidents in the mostly improvised workshops, storage areas and markets.
