WOLVERHAMPTON – Wolverhampton Wanderers has Ruben Neves rewarded with a new contract.
The Portuguese midfielder was last season one of the main forces in the national team that became champion in the Championship and thus promotion afdwong to the Premier League. The 21-year-old was even in the picture for a spot in the world cup selection of Portugal, but he fell at the last moment.
Wolverhampton Wanderers paid last year almost 18 million euros, a clubrecord, to Neves from FC Porto. The Portuguese made in the English league six goals, all with shots from outside the penalty area and often of great beauty. Both the players and fans of the Wolves cried Neves from player of the year. It gave the midfielder a substantial pay raise in a new contract, which runs until mid-2023.
