It circulates again a virus on Messenger, the messaging application of Facebook. This appears from the numerous complaints on social media. You seem to be a video of yourself, send a friend, but if you click on the link, hit your pc or smartphone infected with a virus.
Two surprised emoticons, then your name and then a YouTube link. Click it, then the virus on your pc or smartphone. Who is behind the virus and what they want to achieve, it is not yet clear.
It is not the first time that such a virus is spread. Last year in the summer, circulated, there are similar malicious software on Facebook and WhatsApp.
What to do about it?
First of all: don’t click the link, but warn the sender of the message. So know he or she that he is with a virus is found.
What if you really clicked?
Go to your internet browser and check whether there is plug-ins installed that you don’t know. Is that so? Remove it as soon as possible. Then, go to the app overview of Facebook. Under the titeltje ‘Apps, websites and plug-ins’ and click on ‘Edit’ and then ‘Disable’. Then change your Facebook password. You had the same password for other sites or applications to use only that. Finally, you remove the virusbericht from your Messenger and tell all your friends that the virus may of you have received.
