Korean captain signs with Newcastle

NEWCASTLE – Newcastle United captain Sung-yueng Ki of South Korea contracted.

Sung-yueng Ki fights with the Mexican Carlos Vela.

The 29-year-old midfielder has two years signed to the club from the Premier League. He played the last few years, in England for Swansea City.

Kuitblessure

Ki led the Korean team to the world cup in the group matches against Sweden (0-1) and Mexico (1-2), but was lacking in the exciting duel with Germany, South Korea with 2-0 won and what the historical early elimination of the reigning world champion meant. He had to suffer so much of a kuitblessure.

“It was a simple decision. Ki is a player with a lot of experience, both in the Premier League and internationally,” said head coach Rafa Benitez of Newcastle.
