BERLIN – The number of provincial roads in Germany where trucks will toll you must pay is growing from Sunday, dramatically. At this point, at 2300 km to be paid, that is extended to 39.000 km in other words, the entire provincial road network, according to German media Thursday.
The toll, which is levied also on the 13,000 kilometres of highway in Germany, applies for truck weighing more than 7.5 tons.
The toll puts the German state money. It is expected that each year 7.2 billion to the already accrued German state coffers flow. By the expansion is that 2.5 billion more than now. In the amount of new rates is included as from 1 January shall apply.
The transport sector in Germany is not happy with more toll because of the increasing costs. Minister of transport, Andreas Scheuer (CSU) says, however, that the companies benefit because the roads will be better maintained.
