India is the most dangerous country in the world for women according to a survey by the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
According to more than 500 experts on women’s issues state of India on the first place of most dangerous countries for women in the world due to the high risk of sexual violence and slavery.
Afghanistan and Syria are on the second and third place, followed by Somalia and Saudi Arabia.
The only western country in the list is the United States, on place ten. According to the experts this is the #MeToo and the Time’s Up, movements against sexual harassment.
India: from bad to worse
India, with four places in the list has increased since the previous survey in 2011. According to the experts is India doing too little to protect women.
The country scores the worst in terms of sexual violence, human trafficking, and traditions such as genital mutilation and kinderhuwelijken.
