The way for a departure from Bas Dost at Sporting Lisbon seems to be free. The controversial chairman Bruno de Carvalho was on Saturday voted out of office at the annual general meeting.
When the assembly voted 60 percent for the departure of the Portuguese, who earlier this month announced they will not participate in the transferverzoek that Dost and five other players had submitted.
“If the board is the problem, had the players in their letter to say they would stay if the board would resign. If there are elections, and we win, then the players what we are concerned just with Sporting,” said De Carvalho on June 12.
His departure is good news for Dost, who wants to go to the Sporting occasion of the attack by the hooligans of the club last month. The ex-striker of Heracles Almelo and sc Heerenveen walked a head wound.
Sporting ended the season without a price, in spite of the many goals of Dost. The Portuguese club finished behind champion FC Porto and Benfica as the third in the Primeira Liga and lost also the cup final.
