Nigel de Jong leaves after half a year again at 1. FSV Mainz 05. The German club has on Sunday decided the contract with the 33-year-old midfielder not to renew.
The Young was since the winter break for Mainz. He left at the beginning of this year his contract with Galatasaray dissolve and made on the same day the move to the Bundesliga club.
The 81-fold Orange-international was unable to grow to a fixed value at Mainz, that in the last season as the fourteenth ended up in the Bundesliga and is so maintained at the highest level. He played a total of eleven league games and came not to score.
The chance seems not great that Mainz is the last club of The Young in his career. “I may be 33 years old, still I’m not ready,” he said in January at his coming. “I want my strength and capability insertion for the young boys in the selection and five months long, that we with discipline and mentality in the Bundesliga.”
Mainz was the second German club to which The Young came out. From 2006 to 2009 he played for Hamburger SV. He was also active for Ajax, Manchester City, AC Milan, and the American LA Galaxy.
The last international game of The Young dates back to 28 march 2015 against Turkey (1-1). At the time, put coach Guus Hiddink him in the base in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. In recent years he was not selected for Orange.
