Coach Ludwig Willems expected on BK open conflict on women: “Question is how Jolien D’hoore is restored”

Coach Ludwig Willems slide under the other to outgoing champion Jolien D’hoore, Lotte Kopecky and Sofie De Vuyst as favourites for the national title Sunday in Binche. But Wilson calls there in one breath also Kelly Druyts, Kaat Hannes, Ellen Van Loy, Sanne Cant and Simplon Michiels. The cyclists summarize their title to 7.45 am for a trip about 6 laps of each to 17.2 km. About 10u35 we know or Jolien D’hoore themselves and follow so her fifth tricolor grabs after Yellow (2012), Wielsbeke (2014), Tervuren, belgium (2015) and Antwerp (2017).

“Question is, to what extent Jolien D’hoore fully recovered from her crash in England last week after she already a broken collarbone suffered in Germany. This also gave them Thursday bundle for the Belgian championship time trial. They won in England, however, the first stage of making her condition is not bad,” says coach Ludwig Willems.

Next Jolien D’hoore is Lotte Kopecky put forward for the biggest candidate for the title. “Lotte Kopecky has a strong BK in time trials behind the back, and was second after an outstanding Ann-Sophie Duyck that the opposition is again pulverized,” continues Ludwig Willems. “In addition, Lotte Kopecky rely on a strong team where Jolien D’hoore as a loner of Mitchelton-Scott at the start. At Lotto Soudal they may perhaps draw another card. Sofie De Vuyst its a beautiful spring behind it. Well, after a heavy fall last year. De Vuyst, there is certainly burned her year 2017 to wipe away with a title.”

Is the stage set with D’hoore, Kopecky and De Vuyst? “I don’t think so. There are still a pack of riders that I have a lot of expected. Kelly Druyts, Kaat Hannes, Ellen Van Loy, Sanne Cant and Simplon Michiels can also be dangerous from the corner. It is a short race, only 103,2 kilometers long, so there from the beginning, violently, it will be ridden. It is a word of warning though from kilometer zero,” says Ludwig Willems.

Start all… 7.45 am

At 7.45 am the go-ahead is given. “There is a lot to do around that early start time. But we want the women and the men on the same day, PA finished then it can’t be otherwise. By the way, it’s the teams themselves that a few years ago with that proposal came. So there is still some public interest in the title in the women. Years back reason the women’s elite with the boys juniors, their BK and the public interest is saddening. Now there is already a lot of people present, plus there is media attention,” concludes coach Ludwig Willems.
