LONDON – Goalkeeper Bernd Leno leaves after seven years of Bayer Leverkusen for Arsenal. The 26-year-old goalkeeper signs for five years at the club from London. In Leverkusen he had a continuous commitment until 2020. With his transition is allegedly involved an amount of 25 million euro.
He is the first major purchase for manager Unai Emery, the successor of Arsene Wenger. ,,Bernd, is a goalkeeper with many qualities and much experience. We look forward to his arrival”, said Emery.
Leno is not part of the German selection at the world cup. He fell at the last moment.
Leno is the second German goalkeeper in the service of Arsenal. Jens Lehmann went for him. Lehmann was an assistant to Wenger, but Tuesday made Arsenal known that he leaves.
