Inés, the youngest sister of the Dutch queen Máxima, has on 6 June at the age of 33 an end to her life. Queen Máxima spoke for the first time about the loss during a visit to the UMCG Protonentherapiecentrum.
‘Inés was ill and could not heal, ” said the queen in Groningen. “Our only consolation is that they now rest has found,” said Máxima after the end of the visit, with tears in her eyes.
The queen thanked the Dutch media for the respect they have shown and said it is fine to find back to work. She was also grateful for the compassion that the family received after the death of Inés.
The visit to the UMCG Protonentherapiecentrum in Groningen is her first public appearance since June 6. She would be the centre on 8 June, the official opening, but I quit because of the death of Inés.
‘Today I went back to work after a difficult time. I’m actually glad that I visit have been able to do because it means so much for people with cancer. People who are sick, but yet with a hope for a cure, ” said a visibly emotional princess Máxima, that its text was written down.
‘My little, sweet, talented sister Inés also was sick. She could not find joy and they could not cure. I really want my very great gratitude for the many letters, messages and expressions of sympathy. It has really helped us. Thank you, thank you, ” said the queen.
